KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage the delivery of mine planning, design, and scheduling projects across various commodities and mining methods.
  • Lead strategic reviews, operational improvement programs, technical reviews, due diligence assessments and independent peer reviews.
  • Lead the completion of various technical studies and assessments.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of technical reports
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior and senior mining engineers within the team.
  • Develop and optimise short, medium, and long-term mine plans using industry-standard software.
  • Design practical and cost-effective mine layouts, considering geotechnical, operational, and economic factors.
  • Preparation of mining cost and cash flow models.
  • Preparation of ore reserve assessments.
  • Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and supporting client engagement.
  • Ensure all work complies with the applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

  • At least 15 years’ experience directly in metalliferous mining operations, technical services and/or consulting roles.
  • Demonstrated capability in a variety of Mining Engineering roles
  • Experience in a variety of open pit &/or underground mining operations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of a range of mining methods, deposit types, and commodities.
  • Technical experience across a variety of technical areas, such as mine design, source and destination scheduling, pit optimisation, financial modelling, mine studies and technical report writing
  • Proficiency in mining engineering CAD and scheduling software such as Deswik.
  • Solid experience in the areas of project management of technical studies.

BUSINESS AND LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

  • Hold a track record of coaching and mentoring a team of engineers to deliver quality outcomes.
  • Extensive professional relationships within the mining industry.
  • A talent for managing client relationships and business development.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven record in self-managing projects.
  • Strong analytical ability and strategic capability to deliver for our clients.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills.

QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATES

  • Degree qualified mining engineer
  • Member of AusIMM (ideal but not mandatory)
  • Chartered Professional (with AusIMM) (ideal but not mandatory)
  • Registered Practicing Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or your state’s equivalent (ideal but not mandatory)
