The Senior Mining Engineer – Underground, is a key technical role within the Auryn team, contributing to the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions and supporting the ongoing growth of our business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and optimise short, medium, and long-term mine plans using industry-standard software.
  • Design practical and cost-effective mine layouts, considering geotechnical, operational, and economic factors.
  • Conduct and review production scheduling to maximise resource recovery and operational efficiency.
  • Deliver operational support to client sites, including problem-solving, optimisation, and improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to business development activities by supporting proposal preparation and client engagement.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant safety, environmental and regulatory standards.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

  • 10 years’ experience in metalliferous mining operations, technical services, and/or consulting roles.
  • Demonstrated capability across a variety of Mining Engineering functions.
  • Experience in open pit and/or underground mining operations.
  • Solid understanding of different mining methods, deposit types, and commodities.
  • Technical experience in areas such as mine design, scheduling, pit optimisation, mine studies, financial modelling, and technical report preparation.
  • Proficiency with mining engineering CAD and scheduling software, such as Deswik.

BUSINESS AND LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within engineering teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Established professional relationships within the mining industry.
  • Experience supporting client engagement and contributing to business development activities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to manage own projects effectively and deliver on objectives.
  • Strong analytical skills with the capability to provide practical, value-driven solutions for clients.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and technical report-writing skills.

QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATES

  • Degree qualified mining engineer
  • Member of AusIMM (ideal but not mandatory)
  • Chartered Professional (with AusIMM) (ideal but not mandatory)
  • Registered Practicing Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or your state’s equivalent (ideal but not mandatory)
